Physical Care Bear - October 01, 2004 - 13:53
In 2004 a new range of care bears were designed called The Fit n' Fun Care Bears. The bears are dressed as workout instructors and take kids through a short workout regime while singing Olivia Newton-John's song "Let's Get Physical."
Jay Foreman, ceo of Play Along, said "Last year, we picked up on all the news reports on how many kids in the country are out of shape and even obese. So this is our way of addressing that issue by encouraging kids to start exercising at an early age."
The bears go through their dance/exercise moves to the tunes of "Let's Get Physical," "Bears Just Wanna to Have Fun" (a variation of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun") and the exercise routine of "Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." The articulated bears move their heads, arms, legs and twist at the waist. The action serves to encourage children to copy their movement.
