A3. Soulkiss-news is a low-volume read-only list to keep you posted with news of Olivia.

Q4. Who runs the Olivia Newton-John mailing list?
A4. Richard is the FAQ maintainer, Web page designer and maintainer, and general top man on campus. If you have a technical question see the technical FAQ which is at the bottom of this FAQ. Helen and Melissa look after the running of the list.

Q5. I have a great picture/WAV. Can I send it to the list
A12. NO! The list can only cope with text - many readers see such files as hundreds of lines of rubbish text.  If you have a great picture/WAV which really is new then we can put it on this website - contact details. For one example of how this works take a look at the Only Olivia Photoboard

Q6  I've stopped receiving soulkiss, have I been unsubscribed?
A14 If your email mailbox becomes full (for example you go on vacation or you don't delete large or older messages) then ALL of your future email will be returned to sender. Returned emails will automatically lead to you being unsubscribed from soulkiss. Empty your mailbox and see the main soulkiss page for how to resubscribe.
Very occasionally your email provider may decide to block the soulkiss address for their own security reasons and this will again lead to your soulkiss email being returned to us. You will need to contact your email provider and inquire why this is so.
Soulkiss is available to read on the web if you need to catch up.

 

Technical FAQ

Q14. I CAN'T READ SOME/ALL POSTS!
A14. For a quick fix  read soulkiss on the web which will bypass the blockage until the problem can be resolved. Most likely you are using a broken mailreader. Soulkiss is 100% Internet standards compliant and works correctly with most Internet mailreaders/message user agents. There are hundreds of mailreaders in use and some of them are unfortunately broken when handling multipart/MIME messages.

Supported mailreaders

  • Pegasus Mail For Windows 95 (Internet version 2.55)
  • UNIX Elm (+metamail)

Soulkiss is tested with these supported mailreaders and works correctly with them. Unfortunately soulkiss-chat (and trade) tend to be quite long, containing many messages from several people. This cannot really be avoided in a mailing list, but it does mean that the mail stresses a few poorly written mailreaders, which then fail to show you the mail, or otherwise behave erratically.

For anyone having trouble with their mailreader handling soulkiss the recommended option is to read soulkiss on the web.

Soulkiss is only supported on the supported mailreaders. If you have problems with reading soulkiss mail then try one of these (soulkiss on the web is easiest for most people) and subscribe from there.

As list manager my task ends with the sending of a correctly formatted Internet mail message, which is delivered to subscribers on a best-efforts basis by the Internet at large. Please note that it is not my task to fix the software engineering of AOL, Microsoft or your company's mail gateway. This is the responsibility of the technical support of your service provider, who is usually the person you pay to give you email access. If the supported systems can receive the mail correctly then soulkiss mail is, by definition, correctly formatted and any problems you experience are local to your system. Such problems can only be resolved by your service provider or system administrator.
