Olivia was a guest on Vicki Lawrence's chat show back
in 1993. This was one of Olivia's first American TV appearances after her breast cancer
diagnosis. Olivia spoke candidly about her cancer and Gary Olsen, a fan with cancer,
phones in. Olivia had met Gary recently and offered him advice, to this day he's doing
well.
The other guest was Ruth Pointer, of the Pointers Sisters. More different guests you
couldn't get but this was a positive addition to the show. Through Ruth being there we
learnt that the hippie drug culture of the 60s had passed Olivia by without her even
noticing.
Olivia also met her fans and offered vegemite (Australian yeast paste) to the audience who
generally didn't enjoy the taste!
