Reflective Christmas for on-the-go Olivia

OLIVIA Newton-John is home for the holidays with a new album and ready to take an extended Christmas break.

Slowing down isn’t something that comes easily, with Olivia promoting her album, The Christmas Collection, helping her nephew with a dance album, putting together a box set of her greatest hits and an autobiography to write, the average person would need a holiday to get over the holiday.

“When I come home to Australia I never get a chance to have some time off, because I am usually working,” she says.

“I guess I will still be pretty busy while I am here, but really I have no set plans for the next six months “Anything I do will be the normal things that life and family throws up at you.”

Livvy says she wasn’t planning to make a Christmas album, it came about after she asked fans what songs they would like to hear on her box set.

“One of the big requests was for Christmas songs and I thought I’d have enough to do a Christmas album.”

“Most of the tracks are from a Kenny Loggins Christmas special and they sounded really good when I listened to them again.”

“A couple of the songs are from the Salvation Army’s charity Christmas CD - I just didn’t have time to record any new ones.”

Olivia says Christmas is about family, especially after the world events of the past few months.

“I was in Florida when the terrorist attacks happened and it was an awful feeling, everyone was fearful, and I couldn’t get to Los Angeles where my daughter Chloe was.”

“Christmas is about remembering how fortunate we are and this year it may be a time of mourning for many but also, hopefully, a time of great appreciation and thanks for what we do have.”
