Shadow [Bruce Welch] is divorced

A guitarist, Mr. Bruce Welch, a founder-member of “The Shadows” pop group, offered no defence in the London Divorce Court on Monday when a decree nisi was granted to Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Welch, of Wellington House, Aylmer Drive, Stanmore, because of his adultery with Olivia Newton-John, a singer. The marriage was in London in August 1959.

Judge Ruttle granted custody of the only child to the wife, and ordered Mr. Welch to pay the costs of the suit.
