Movie To Introduce New Musical Group

TOOMORROW is a new musical group with the sound of the 70s involved in a total entertainment concept including a major motion picture, records, television and merchandising.
At a press conference here, Joseph M. Sugar, president of Cinerama Releasing Corporation, announced that the company has acquired the tribution of the motion picture space musical, Tomorrow, a Harry Saltzman-Don Kirshner production which introduces the new musical group called TOOMORROW. Mr. Sugar further announced that release of the film has been scheduled for spring, 1970.

The impact of this new contemporary group on the world market will be backed by a massive campaign by RCA records which has signed the group to a long-term contract, by an upcoming NBC-tv special, by massive merchandising and licendiscing, and by the release of the film by Cinerama.
Harry Saltzman is the co-producer of the James Bond thrillers and most recen-ly produced Battle Of Britain and On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Don Kirshner, president of Kirshner Entertainment Corporation, made musical history with The Monkees and is currently music supervisor for The Archies whose recording of Sugar Sugar has sold over 2,000,000 copies and has number 1 record in the country for four consecutive weeks. Together they outlined the development of this unique total entertainment concept for the press. Mr. Saltzman described the picture as providing a new musical and a fresh original concept in movie-making.
GROUP NUMBERS
The new group consists of four highly attractive and talented youngsters. They are Olivia Newton-John a singer from Austrialia; Karl Chambers, a rythm 'n blues drummer from Philadelphia: Vic Cooper, a pianist and organist from England; and Ben Thomas, a singer and guitarist from Georgia, TOOMORROW'S first recording will be released on the Kirshner record label distributed through RCA.
Harry Saltzman is considered one of the most perceptive and successful film makers of cinema history due to the phenomenal popularity of his James Bond thrillers. His most recent productions, Battle Of Britain, is currently showing in England, Europe and North America and On Her Majesty's Secret Service will premiere in December.
Don Kirshner built a music, publishing company, and record producing organization which were sold to Columbia Pictures-Screen Gems in a multi-million dollar deal. Kirshner was then made president of Columbia Pictures-Screen Gems, tv, record and music division. He is credited with publishing music for such pictures as Lawrence Of Arabia, Casino Royale, including the song Look Of Love, To Sir With Love and Born Free. The latter earned academy awards for best song and score.
Toomorrow filmed in Panavision and Technicolor, was directed by Val Guest. Musical co-ordinator on Toomorrow and composer of the musical score is John Barry, the Englishman with three academy awards behind him and a host of hit scores, including the successful music for the James Bond movies.

The Cinerama Releasing Corp. has acquired distribution rights to Tomorrow,
a space musical produced originally for United Artists release by Harry Saltzman and Don Kirshner.
The production stars newcomers Olivia Newton-John, singer from Australia; Karl Chambers, drummer from Philadelphia; Vic Cooper, pianist and organist from England; and Ben Thomas, singer and guitarist from Georgia. All performers are in their twenties.

New Group Will Star In Films
NEW YORK - Harry Saltzman and Don Kirshner have announced joint production plans for a series of new-style musical adventure films starring a new musical group called Tomorrow.
The first of the films, all to be coproduced by Saltzman and Kirshner and released by United Artists, will be titled Tomorrow.
Principal photography is scheduled to begin in London April 8.
The new group, discovered after a six-month, worldwide talent hunt, consists of Olivia Newton-John, 20, a singer from Australia; Karl Chambers, a 22-year-old drummer from Philadelphia; Vic Cooper, 25, a pianist and organist from Eng-land, and Ben Thomas, 24, a singer and guitarist from Georgia.
