Cambridge Singer For Eurovision

Cambridge-born singer Olivia Newton-John will sing the television viewers’ choice of the song “Long Live Love” for Britain in the Eurovision song contest at Brighton on April 6.

Her mother, Mrs. Irene Newton-John, who lives in Pentlands Close, Cambridge, is naturally very pleased about Olivia’s part in the contest. “It is a terrific honour for her to do it,” she said today. “It is a very big thing and she feels the responsibility of it.”

Mrs. Newton-John said Olivia spent the weekend in Cambridge two weeks ago when she stayed with her. “We went for a walk along the Backs, and she loved seeing them again,” she said. “She is living in London at the moment and will soon be moving into a house in North London, where she can have a garden and a dog.”

Mrs. Newton-John said that Olivia was planning a trip to the United States after the contest.
