Olivia makes your day

MUSIC Makes My Day is the title of the new Olivia Newton-John album (Pye International NSPL 28185) and listening to this delightful collection certainly made my day.

Included in the album are Take Me Home Country Roads, the song that took so long to get into the British charts, and Let Me Be There, the song that did nothing here but was a hit in the States. I also liked the superb rendition of Amoureuse, Kiki Dee’s recent hit. This track alone is a musical masterpiece.

Add to these Brotherly Love, Rosewater (a self-penned composition), Feeling Best, and Being On the Losing End and a few more and you’ve got a musical extravaganza.

Livvy’s voice comes over soft or strong, according to the song. The arrangements and vocal backings are first class.

I think Livvy’s new single, Long Live Love (Pye 7N 25638), Britain’s entry in tonight’s Eurovision Song Contest, is too bouncy. And the more I listen to the B side, Angel Eyes, the more I think that would have been a better choice. So all I can say is the best of British luck.
