The Great Eurovision Song Circus
THE GREAT Eurovision song circus is over for another year.
Sweden came out top, with Britain’s Olivia Newton-John surprisingly only managing fourth with, two other countries with “Long Live Love.”
If, like Ariel, you were one of the millions in the U.K. who gave her top marks, you must have been disappointed.
The Eurovision contest ranks as one of the big events on the TV calendar, on a par with Miss World and the Cup Final.
But for weeks we have been bombarded with our song. People in other countries have had a similar brain-washing.
The aim is to whip up interest to fever pitch, but the reverse happens. “Long Live Love” is a fine song but an awful lot of people are sick of the sound of it.
