Short review of the If You Love Me Let Me Know album

Olivia Newton-John continues to be a country lark. Her new one, “I You Love Me, Let Me Know” (MCA 411) is a cheerful earful of lilting country warmth, coated with pop charisma.

The title tune already is a singular success for the lass, and growing evidence that some of the finer country ditties are coming from of all places - London.

Hers is a fragile voice delicate, uncluttered, feminine and her song selection suits her just fine. An occasional overdubbing gives depth and breadth to her artistry.

Quick favorites: “The River’s Too Wide,” “Mary Skeffington,” “God Only Knows,” “I Love You, I Honestly Love You” and “Changes” - the latter displaying her songwriting talent.
