Long Live Love album review
Olivia Newton John wasn’t exactly complimentary about her Eurovision entry “Long Live Love” after it had failed to make her top of the Euro-pops, but for me it is still the best of the six competition numbers she sings on her similarly titled album.
“Have Love Will Travel” is another bouncy track into which she injects a little life, but the rest are very ordinary numbers which even Olivia’s powerful and pleasant voice cannot lift out of the rut.
Fortunately, there are six other tracks. “Free The People” is a mixture of country and pop which is becoming her forte and there are wispy, whispering versions of “Someday” and “God Only Knows” (EMI).
