It's Ladies' day among the albums (Long Live Love)

Long Live Love album review

THE FAIR SEX certainly seem to be the weakor sex when it comes to record sales, yet there is often a growing appeal in female albums which in the long run makes them better buys than the instant impact male vocal.

Olivia Newton John waan’t exactly complimentary about her Eurovision entry Long Live Love after it had failed to make her top of the Euro-pops, but for me it is still the best of the six competition numbers she sings on her similarly titled album.

Have Love Will Travel is another bouncy track into which she injects a little life, but the rest are very ordinary which even Olivia’s powerful and pleasant voice cannot lift out of the rut.

Fortunately, there are also six other tracks. Free the People is mix of country and pop which becoming her forte and there are wispy, whispering versions of Someday and God Only Knows (EMI)
