MCA recording star Olivia Newton-John is one of the most popular female vocalists in America today. Her second MCA LP, If You Love Me. Let Me Know
, was recently certified gold by the R.LA.A and her first, Let Me Be There
, is on the verge of going gold as well. A top contender for no fewer than four 1974 awards from the Country Music Association, Olivia has been nominated for Entertainer of the Year. Single of the Year, Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year Last year Olivia was presented with a Grammy award as the Best Female Country Vocalist.
Surprisingly enough, despite the attention she's attracting from country music fans in the United States, Olivia's records always cross over to the pop charts. Her first success came in England where she toured as a solo artist. In 1971, Olivia's single, Banks of the Ohio
won her a Silver Disc in Great Britain and the success of this record was repeated in Australia, Germany. South Africa and Denmark.
Now that Olivia Newton-John's talent has been recognized in the United States, she's winning awards here as well. Her singles, Let Me Be There
and If You Love Me Let Me Know
have both been certified gold and another, I Honestly Love You
, is well on its way to selling one million units. Quite a talent!
