OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN has been named top female vocalist by the Country Music Associa-tion in Nashville, Tennessee.
Olivia accepted the award from London in a video-taped message. Her hit songs include If You Love Me, Let Me Know.
Charlie Rich was named entertainer of the year. Rich also won the album of the year award for Very Special Love Song.
A newcomer to country music, blind Ronnie Milsap, named top male vocalist. Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn won the top vocal duo award for the third time.
Cal Smith, a former Texas troubador, won the honour for Single of the Year for his hit Country Bumpkin. The song written by Don Wayne, was also chosen Song of the Year.
