Olivia winning Female Vocalist of the Year at the CMA

NEWTON-John, whose first name gave introducer Roy Acuff considerable difficulty, and whose last name did the same for Bill Monroe.

Her acceptance was not in person but by tape. She currently is on a European tour. In the tape she said, “I hope to see you soon when I fulfill a longtime ambition and record an album in Nashville.”

Female Vocalist of the Year: winner - Olivia Newton-John; presented by Roy Acuff and Chet Atkins.
