Have You Never Been Mellow review
British-born, 26-year-old Olivia Newton-John has already accumulated two gold albums (which have each sold one million dollars worth of copies) and one platinum album (representing sales of one mil-lion copies altogether).
She also recently won two Grammy Awards for her hit single from last year, “I Honestly Love You.” Newton-John is a beautiful young woman who possesses a sweet, wistful soprano with an even more wistful vibrato.
“Have You Never Been Mellow,” Newton-John’s recent release, features the vocalist singing songs by Rick Nelson, John Denver, Tom Jans, Dave Nictern and Graeme Hall. Almost every arrangement tinkles; sometimes the vocalist tries to rise above the tinkle by coloring her voice, but on the whole Olivia Newton-John sets a new level for inoffensiveness.
