Olivia Admits To Nerves, Nashville March 23 1975 concert
NASHVILLE, Tenn. Olivia Newton-John was nervously pacing the floor of her dressing room before trilling off her concert to a sold-out (10,000) audience at the Municipal Auditorium here- “I admit I’m jittery,” she said.
“After all, this is THE place,” she continued. “This is the place (Nashville),” she repeated, “that has put a lot of faith in me. I am nervous. I’ve never felt this way before any other concert. Well, in a long, long time anyhow.
“I’ll tell you how I feel. It’s like going home to some place you’ve never been before.”
The 26-year-old English culle paused to drink a glass of water. “I’m a person who likes to feel at home and that is what I like about country music. It’s comfortable music. I started out singing folk music and when I began recording, my songs would hit the pop charts in England. Odd, isn’t it?” she asked.
“Then we noticed they began hitting the country charts in the U.S., records like “Banks of the Ohio”, “If Not For You”, and of course, “Let Me Be There.”
