Capacity Crowd Hears Olivia, concert at Asheville, April 13 1975

Australian singer Olivia Newton-John drew a capacity crowd of 7,648 in her first appearance here Sunday night at the Asheville Civic Center.

The crowd seemed to enjoy the performance sponsored by the Asheville Jaycees very much and Miss Newton-John indicated that she would return at some future date for another show.

Cotton To Perform With Newton-John

Folk singer Gene Cotton will appear as a special guest of Olivia Newton-John in her concert in the Asheville Civic Center at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Cotton, a song writer and singer in the tradition of John Denver and Don McLean, has appeared previously in Asheville at a one-man concert at the University of North Carolina at Asheville.

The ABC recording artist has one song in the top 30, “Sunshine Roses,” and a new release, “Damn It All,” which has been picked by music trade magazines as a top hit. The Nashville based singer has four albums to his credit.

The Sunday concert has been a sell-out for several weeks.
