Q. I am a fan of the popular singer Olivia Newton-John, and I would like any information you may have about her. L.P., Louisville.
-A. Miss Newton-John that’s her real name - was born 26 years ago in England, but her family moved to Australia when she was five. She started performing as a child there and won a trip to London in a singing contest. Once back in England, Olivia stayed there. She started as a folk singer and moved into country music.
Ironically, that type of music wasn’t popular in England, and two of her biggest hits, “Let Me Be There” and “If You Love Me,” bombed there.
