Olivia Newton-John. internationally famous singer and winner of three Grammy Awards, has been signed to star in her own one-hour musical variety special, on the ABC Television Network. it was announced today by Edwin T. Vane, vice-president and national program director, ABC entertainment.
In a very brief time. Miss Newton-John's unique and exciting song style has made her one of the world's most popular performers,
said Vane We are delighted that our wide television audience will have an opportunity to see why she has become one of the major stars on the international music scene.
A premier recording artist. Ms. Newton-John's soft, ethereal voice garnered her more music awards in 1974 than any other female vocalist, among them two Grammys, four American Music Awards, and two Country Music Association Awards.
Her current LP release, Clearly Love,
and single hit. Something Better to Do
, are climbing on the record charts.
Ms. Newton-John is the first female vocalist to achieve three successive Number One records on the top pop charts If You Love Me,
I Honestly Love You,
and Have You Never Been Mellow?
