The Radiant Look
Beautiful country-pop singer Olivia Newton-John, MCA recording star whose latest allum is titled Clearly Love, recently won a Grammy award as Best Female Country Vocalist.
When she isn’t recording, she’s traveling around the world, performing in concert. With this kind of hectic schedule, the Australian star has learned to keep her radiant fresh look with a surprisingly simple makeup routine.
Favorite shades are the tawny ones she can wear with any costume, whatever the color. She’s meticulous about foundation, patting it on slowly for even coverage. Here, the shade in light tan. Next, translucent face powder, terracotta hlush, aye makeup (see below) and sherry-tone lipstick with built-in glower.
The tawny tones contrast prettily with the pure-white blouse she’s wearing here, sewn from Simplicity Pattern #6625 (31) in lace by Mandel Fabries, and the plaid skirt from Simplicity Pattern #7053 ($1.50), in Duchess Fabrics taffeta (detail, page 241)
To accent her eyes, on or offstage. Olivia chooses a pale mushroom-brown shadow for the lids and a deeper brown shadow in the eye crease. Glossy peach shadow goes on under the brows, and multiple coats of mascara in a deep brown shade are ap plied with a tapered, lash-separating brush that lets her work quickly and get beautiful results.
