America's Working Woman, Olivia Newton-John
FIRST JOB: Singing on a television show
NOW: Grammy-award winning recording artist and performer
CAREER GOAL: Singing and acting in films
PERSONAL CHALLENGE: To make time for all the things she wants to do
ENJOYS: Being outdoors with her horses and dogs
I left school at 15 to follow my singing career after I won a talent contest - a decision I've never regretted. My parents had doubts then, but they've always wanted me to do what makes me happy and being able to entertain people is what makes me the happiest. I've lived in England and Australia, and now have a house in Los Angeles in the hills where there's enough room for my four horses and four dogs. In the evening I'd rather have a few friends in or go to their house restaurants are too impersonal. I like to feel easy and comfortable about things I'm very organized in my work, but at home I tend to get a bit jumbled. Fleur Themeyer makes my on-stage wardrobe for me; off-stage I love to wear jeans.
Olivia's first television special will be on ABC Wednesday, November 17th.
