Olivia and foal Julia

As a child, Olivia Newton-John dreamed of becoming a mounted-police woman - but she’ll have to wait a bit longer to climb onto Julia, the newest arrival in the mini-menagerie at her ranch-style home in Malibu.

The filly, Olivia says, was named for its likeness to Vanessa Redgrave in the movie of the same name: “limpid-eyed, long-legged and coltish.” And there may be some foal play in store for Julia.

Olivia recently filmed a TV show in Namibia, following a captive-bred young cheetah named Khyam who was returned to the wild. Khyam, now a pet again, is due to visit the singer in Malibu, and that, muses Olivia, “might create quite a stir. In Africa, she remembered her hunting instincts.”
