Protest, dolphin slaughtering
UPI - Japanese fans of Helen Reddy and Olivia Newton-John - and they are legion - have only their own dolphin-slaughtering fishermen to blame. Both singers are dropping plans to perform next fall in Japan, in protest of the dolphin-kill.
Says Miss Newton John, in Los Angeles, I would not be comfortable appearing in a country where they have permitted the destruction of such beautiful and intelligent mammals.
And adds Miss Reddy, I feel the only way to properly protest such slaughter in a country which is such a lucrative record and concert market for us is by the cancellation of our tours.

LOS ANGELES -. Score one for the dolphins. Olivia Newton-John has made her point, so she's rescheduled her 24-concert tour of Japan.
She canceled the tour in March to protest that country's wholesale slaughter of dolphins - but now she says a representative of the Japanese government contacted her over the weekend in Hollywood, assuring her steps are being taken to reduce the dolphin-kill by Japanese fishermen. She tentatively plans to do the concert in October.
