Totally Hot review
OLIVIA NEWTON-JOHN “Totally Hot” (Interfusion L 36771).
Actually, the album is a surprise in that it is not quite what one expects.
There are the failures in the two popular cover versions “Please Don’t Keep Me Waiting,” and “Gimme Some Lovin’”, but the best of the songs pass in various degrees of excellence.
a One of her own compositions. “Talk To Me” is down-to-earth ballad that is handled nicely, while her other one, “Borrowed Time,” is rather wistful.
However, the title track, “Totally Hot,” is as cold as a fish, and her talents just do not match the song.
Eric Carmen’s “Boats Against The Current” is the best track of all, both for her voice and the production, and even would be pleased. Eric would be pleased.
