Grease See it, Buy the Album

Various Artists: Grease (RSO)

Grease: the movie… … the album PNG right now… they’re both here in PNG right now and they’re red hot.

From the opening credits backed by the disco anthem single “Grease” to the last minutes where John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John sing “We Go Together”, Grease moves along through no less than 26 rock numbers which comprise a soundtrack album that being the biggest selling album ever released in Australia.

The movie is a send up about an American high school in the fifties or early sixties - superstar John Travolta plays Danny a slicked-back greaser trying to maintain his cool yet win the heart of Sandy (Olivia Newton-John) who is young and very innocent Australian girl attending Rydell High School.

Sandwiched between drag races, pyjama parties, school dances, drive-ins, malt shops, and Rydell High School comes some of the best music to be the soundtrack of a movie since Saturday Night Fever.

The Barry Gibb hit single “Grease” sung by Franki Valli of the Four Seasons (Is there anyone out there who remembers “Sherry” or “Big Girls Don’t Cry”?) is a million seller racing start to this powerful album.

Other singles already in the charts all over the world are “You’re the One That I Want”, “Summer Nights” and “Sandy”.
