Hopelessly Devoted To You
Even Serious Illness Can't Stop Her 'Cause She'd Never Disappoint Her Fans!
If you stayed up late on Academy Awards night to see Olivia sing “Hopelessly Devoted To You,” her Grease hit that was up for an Oscar, you know how beautiful she looked and how great she sounded! But Olivia kept a big secret from you that night - she was performing with a fever of 103°!
ILLNESS STRIKES!
Olivia fell ill four days before the telecast and her doctor and friends pleaded with her to stay in bed - they were sure her condition would get worse if she went on the show.
But dedicated Olivia wouldn’t listen - she had promised to sing and she was determined to go on, no matter how terrible she felt!
Though she was weak and uncomfortable, Olivia kept smiling through the remaining hours of the Oscars - even though “Hopelessly…” lost to “Last Dance” for Best Song.
But there was no dancing for Olivia at the party after the show she barely stayed a few minutes before she was rushed back to her Malibu (Cal.) ranch, where round-the-clock nurses were called in to care for her.
Olivia awoke the next day feeling better, but it was only “the calm before the storm” - her temperature rose again and her doctor had no choice but to send her to the hospital. Olivia felt so sick that friends weren’t allowed to call or visit, but cards, gifts and flowers started pouring in - including bunches of Easter lilies and get-well cards from you!
They really helped to speed her recovery from the mysterious virus that put her in the hospital and kept her in bed for almost two weeks once she went home.
Gradually, Olivia got her strength back and started spending time outdoors with her animals (she’s got five horses, two cats, and four dogs!) plenty of rest ‘n care soon had her feelin’ fine and itchin’ to sing again!
SHE'S HONORED!
You can’t keep this 5’6”, 108 lb. bundle of energy down for long - she’s happiest when she’s making music for you!
And this year she’s got a lot to be happy about she won two People’s Choice Awards, a Grammy nomination, and the Order of the British Empire, a very special honor presented to her by Queen Elizabeth at a special New Year’s ceremony!
And of course, Olivia’s Totally Hot LP is living up to its name it’s a certified-platinum blazing hit just like her other records!
With all these honors as proof of your love and devotion, Olivia considers herself a very lucky star - that’s why she’s planning to make more movies, TV appearances, and records to show her appreciation!
Also, she still intends to contribute some of her time and energy to worthwhile causes like The Year of the Child and saving endangered species she once wanted to be a vet and animals are still a very important part of her life!
But even a go-gettin’, involved person like Olivia has to relax once in a while her recent illness taught her the importance of that!
She unwinds by listening to music (Rod Stewart, the Bee Gees, and the Doobie Brothers are a few faves!), and playing tennis, riding, swimming, and skiing - but she loves to spend time with friends like Andy Gibb, Grease buddies John Travolta, Jeff Conaway, and Didi Conn most of all!
She loves having ‘em over for home-cooked meals of roast, ratatouille (vegetable casserole), and yummy chocolate souffle for dessert - watching a comedy, music show, or movie on TV afterward would make it a perfect evening!
But when she’s alone, Olivia likes to spend time reading your letters ‘cause she’s very interested in what you have to say!
You can send ‘em to her at Box 604, Medina, Oh. 44256 - if you love her, let her know!
