Andy Gibb and Olivia could a Movie turn into Romance?

Ever since Andy Gibb hit the music scene, he’s been linked with many different women. First there was his wife Kim, and their subsequent divorce and sort-of-scandal, then there was actress Susan George and their hell-raising nights, and then there was pretty little Marie Osmond and her family’s strong resistance to a relationship for the two Whew! It’s enough to write a book about and Andy is just turning 21!

At any rate, after the romance department didn’t seem anywhere near as successful as his music, Andy commented to a reporter: “I don’t want any heavy involvements, anything heavy right now I definitely don’t have the time.”

He was also sure that he wanted to pace himself career-wise, so he wouldn’t be burned out by the time he did turn 21.

When he was still 19 and everyone was knocking on his door to do things from dog food commercials to feature-length films, Andy said: “I’m being very careful. I broke in very young. and a lot could happen in the next ten years. At this point, where it’s all beginning, I’m trying to look out and see where it could go. Movies have been mentioned, but I’m not ready yet. I want to get really competent at what I’m doing now”.

Well, obviously Andy proved his competency with hit after hit and now he is considering joining the rest of the Bee Gees as matinee idols! That’s right, Andy is toying with the idea of making a film… and it just may be the Grease sequel, Summer School. If he does accept the role, he will play Olivia Newton-John’s Australian brother - typecasting maybe?

The question is, if the movie does happen and the two singers from Down Under co-star, could a romance blossom?

Well, Olivia is eight years older than Andy, but then, Susan George was six years his senior too.

Then, it’s been reported that Olivia has made up with her long-time off-and-on-again main man, Lee Kramer, and that they may tie the knot next year. Well, no one is saying that it won’t last, but Olivia has been close to marrying Lee before and she always backed down.

Of course, that isn’t to say she will leave Lee for Andy, but what may happen is that a very close friendship, a very special relationship may develop.

Andy has already admitted that his fame has sent him spiraling, that it has come on a little fast:

“It’s a strange mental thing to walk down the street and have people you don’t even know turn around and look at you. Or turn and whisper to each other. Or to come up and want to touch. You think. Gee, I never used to have that I could go anywhere - Burger King, McDonald’s- No more. Privacy is an advantage you never know is an advantage until you don’t have it any more. Like anything else, the novelty wears off after a while”.

That’s why it would probably be very good for Andy to get together with Olivia - sure there’s an age difference, but she’s still a girl from his own country, a girl who understands what he’s going through now and where he’s been before.

Of course, it may not be the romance of the century - it probably won’t be but it might be the nicest thing that has happened to Andy in a long time.
