Olivia Newton-John article

Translation fron Dutch:

Olivia's Dream Came True

You might think that a top star like Olivia Newton-John has no ambition or dreams left, since she's already achieved everything. But you'd be wrong, believe us. Despite sweet Olivia's astonishing success over the past few years, there was still one major gap in her career: her own television show.

A few years ago, I recorded a special with Abba and Andy Gibb, but that was a one-off, said Olivia. They had already suggested to me back then to make it into a series, but I just didn't have the time. Grease had just come out, and I had more than my hands full.

Now that her latest film, Xanadu is all but wrapped up, she finally got the chance to realize her latest dream: a monthly television show, under the title Hollywood Nights. The premiere was recorded a few days ago, and Joepie naturally had their man on the platform.

From the kickoff, Olivia gathered her closest friends from show business: namesake Elton John, with whom she's been good friends for several years; Cliff Richard, who helped her get her start in show business; and Andy Gibb, who is rumored to be her new love.

To make it clear that she is a good sport and doesn't shy away from competition in her own show, she also invited a number of female colleagues: Toni Tennille, Tina Turner, and Peaches. Of course, I get paid for thses shows, but I spend a large portion of that money on the artists, she says. I want all the big names on my show; for me, it's a matter of prestige. I want my show to be in the top five of the ratings; that's the most important thing for me.
