Olivia coming home?
Australian superstar, Olivia Newton-John, wants to come home to Australia and live in Sydney.
This weekend Olivia and some of her close Australian friends. went house hunting.
Olivia, who now lives in Malibu, California, is keen to buy a residence close to Sydney. The ideal property would have space for her to raise horses, which are one of the loves of her life.
She says that while her career would keep her in the United States for most of the time, she would like a Sydney retreat.
Accompanied by friends and a Sydney real estate agent, she has inspected several homes with Harbour views, as well as various country residences.
With her mother living in Melbourne and her father in Newcastle, Olivia has always had a desire to come home to Australia to be close to her family.
She describes as absurd the comments of fellow expatriate Australian, Helen Reddy, that Australia has “nothing to offer.”
“Australia is a beautiful, divine country and I long to live here.”
One of the highlights of her career, she has said, was singing before the Queen at last week’s Royal Variety performance at the Opera House.
“It was a great moment for me.”
In between house hunting she has been shopping and sightseeing.
A close friend, who is a fellow Australian and lives in California with Olivia, said: “We have had some great great fun house-hunting. It would be really nice if we found somewhere in Sydney to buy. Though most of our work commitments are out of the States, Olivia would love to spend as much time as possible in Sydney.”
