Olivia's New Look
Olivia Newton-John, the peaches and cream darling of the straight set, has shed her Mary Poppins image and has a sexy new look in an hour-long special, “Physical,” screening on one on Saturday night.
Olivia, now aged 33, wanted to be more adventurous, and “Physical” was the result. She wears some stunning clothes designed for her by Australia’s Fleur Theimayer.
The programme features Olivia’s new singles “Make A Move On Me” and “Landslide,” where she appears in a space suit. Her current boyfriend, Matt Lattanzi, a dancer, plays one of the characters in the film clip.
The pair have been inseparable since they met during Olivia’s last movie, “Xanadu.” It is understood Lattanzi played a big part in creating Olivia’s change of image.
Friends have reported that since their relationship began Olivia has become a new woman, poised, self-confident and with a new lease on life.
Some of the songs featured in the programme are “A Little More Love,” “Recovery” and “Falling.” Two of Olivia’s golden oldies, “Magic” and “Hopelessly Devoted to You.” are also featured.
The special probably is the biggest highlight of the singer’s TV career in recent years.
“Physical,” produced for E.M.I. Music, has been hailed as the finest pop music video ever made. The rock music weekly, “New Musical Express,” said it defines the current state of the pop video art.
