Olivia and Matt in Paris

Translation from Dutch:

Far from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood, newly wed Olivia Newton-John spent her honeymoon with husband Matt Lattanzi. In Paris, the city of love, Olivia’s marital bliss truly began.

Suddenly, Olivia Newton-John was married to Matt Lattanzi. To the great surprise of many, because Olivia never wanted to talk about marriage plans. Worse still, she always said: “I’ll never get married. I think marriage is dangerous. I don’t want to commit myself to someone forever.”

The reason the film star was so afraid of marriage stems from her childhood. Olivia was still quite young when her parents divorced. “They were always arguing,” said the star of Saturday Night Fever and Grease. “It was terrible. Because of that, I never had a very happy home. All that misery also made me afraid of marriage. I never changed my mind about it because I see one marriage after another fail around me. Until I met Matt…”

Matt Lattanzi made an overwhelming impression on the Australian-born film star. Olivia did find warmth and affection in him. “Matt is just different from all the men who have proposed to me, and different from the many men I’ve worked with. Matt wasn’t after my money or my fame.”

Olivia was quickly convinced of Matt’s good and loving intentions. They hadn’t known each other long when the marriage took place in the United States. Olivia simply felt that Matt was the one for her. “We really didn’t make a hasty decision,” she adds for extra clarity.

It was all about quality. What Matt and Olivia had decided very quickly was the destination of their honeymoon.

“Paris,” Olivia exclaims excitedly. “As soon as we started talking about getting married, I immediately said I wanted to go to Paris. The city of love. I honestly can’t imagine a more romantic honeymoon. I love it here. For Matt and me, the marriage is only just beginning. In Hollywood, it’s all way too busy. You keep running into people who congratulate you. That’s all meant very sweetly, but it leaves very little time to spend together. Here in Paris, we can. Of course, I get recognized every now and then, but otherwise, we’re left alone. It’s wonderful: finally together. Just paying attention to each other.”

And the future, of course? “Yes, we talk about that too,” Olivia laughs. “I also make no secret of the fact that children play an important role in this. I hope to become a mother as soon as possible”.
