Matt in stage production as Elvis impersonator
Even after creaming off the makeup and shedding the costume, it’s hard for actors to totally shed the character they’re playing. Ask Matt Lattanzi, who plays an Elvis Presley impersonator in the Los Angeles stage production Saturday Night at the Thundering Hooves Motel.
Even back home at the (Malibu) ranch, Lattanzi can’t quite seem to get mellow, a state of affairs that’s a bit tough on his wife, Olivia Newton-John. “But you can’t help being transfixed by this character,” says Matt. “I not only play an Elvis imitator in the play, but also a man who thinks he’s the reincarnation of Elvis twin brother, Jesse Aaron. Olivia never knows who she’s going to be having dinner with Elvis or Matt. Thank God, I don’t play a maniac killer.”
