Translation from Dutch:

At eleven in the morning, Olivia Newton-John calls her gynecologist. The blonde singer, who is expecting her first baby next spring, can sometimes get so worried about her unborn child that she wants an immediate answer to the question that's keeping her awake.

It's probably just age, she confessed to her best friend Nancy. A 37-year-old woman is simply more vulnerable than a 20-year-old girl when she's pregnant.

But everything is going well with Olivia's pregnancy. I haven't even been sick in the morning, she says. And an amniocentesis and an ultrasound have shown that the baby is developing perfectly.

However, the gynecologist who is treating Olivia has to keep a big secret from her and her husband, Matt Lattanzi, who is almost eleven years younger than her. We absolutely don't want to know if it's a boy or a girl, Olivia says, laughing.

That has to remain a big surprise for Matt and me. So we warned the doctor and nurse well before the first ultrasound that they absolutely mustn't let anything slip.

Olivia and Matt are preparing intensively together for the upcoming joyous event. My mother insists, Olivia says, smiling. She lives in Australia, but that doesn't stop her from calling me every time with good advice. She also insists I do gymnastics every day and rub olive oil on my belly to prevent stretch marks.

Unlike her blonde daughter, Olivia's mother is far from superstitious and is therefore already busy knitting and crocheting tiny booties, jackets, and hats. I'm not starting on that yet, says Olivia, who does have a super-wide sweater on the needles for herself. I've completely stopped working, so I have all the time for that now.

And to please my mother, I work a lot in the garden, which is healthy exercise, she says. But I haven't bought any children's clothes yet. And we don't have anything for the nursery yet. I'm far too superstitious for that. Matt and I are only going to buy the dowry at the very last minute, Olivia admits, who has already booked a few extra rooms, including a bright, cheerful nursery added to her spacious Malibu villa.

Matt and I do pregnancy exercises together, says Olivia. Preferably in the mornings at the beach. We're leading a very romantic and healthy life at the moment. We're both enjoying it so much that almost every day I wonder why we waited so long to have a baby, says Olivia, who is experiencing her pregnancy intensely with her husband.

The other day, Matt put his ear to my belly to listen. And then he felt the baby kick his cheek. Our love for each other has never been so tender as at that moment.
