Television Review, Down Under
How great it is to have Olivia Newton-John back at work singing her little Aussie heart out. She has never sounded better and in fact has never looked better. The time she took out for marriage and motherhood seems to have only made her better in every way.
This one hour special is a visit back to Newton-John’s homeland of Australia. She interviews some of the locals and plays tourist to some of the grand and breathtaking Australian scenery. The music, the setting, and the charm of Olivia are an unbeatable combination to make this hour a wonderful treat for all.
Olivia Newton-John in HBO feature
The distinctive Olivia Newton-John voice belts out ballads and upbeat tunes. Most are from her new album “The Rumour” and fit in perfectly with the scenes of Australia she is presenting. There is even a song that goes along with a sheep shearing session.
Slim, trim and full of vim, Olivia acts and looks like a teenager when in fact she is a mature married woman and mother. This fact is brought home in one sequence where she frolics on the beach with her daughter Chloe who looks to be a charmer all her own. You can also get a brief glimpse of husband Matt Lattanzi sharing an alpine ride with his wife.
“Olivia Newton-John In Australia” premieres on HBO July 30 and repeats August 1, 4, 7, 10 and 16. Don’t miss it.
