Translation from Spanish:

Issue Number 2496

Actress and singer Olivia Newton-John was in Madrid to appear on a television program, where she demonstrated that she still possesses the same charisma as during her golden age in Grease.

This is Olivia's third visit to Spain. At the hotel where she was staying, with her characteristic charm and friendliness, she spoke with us.

You've been to Spain before, what strikes you most about our country?

ONJ: Unfortunately, I don't know it very well; I've only been able to visit Madrid, and I must say I was impressed by the Prado Museum. But if I had to highlight one thing, it's the people, the Spanish, that I like most. I feel very comfortable when I'm in Spain.

Olivia Newton-John, John Travolta's co-star in Grease, is a magnificent actress, singer, and dancer, is pictured in these three images during her stay in Madrid. I would love to make another film like that one, she confessed to us.

I'm in Madrid to appear on a television program. I would like to work with Pedro Almodóvar. I am a United Nations ambassador for the Environment.

Have you ever thought about coming here on holiday?

ONJ: -I would especially love to get to know Seville and Barcelona thoroughly, but at the moment I don't have any days off.

Do you have friends in Spain?

I made some the other times I was here, but since I'm always working, I don't have time to see them.

Are you familiar with Spanish cinema?

ONJ: I haven't had the opportunity, but I know Antonio Banderas through Madonna and the director Pedro Almodóvar. I would love to make a film in Spain; that way I would have the opportunity to spend a long time here.

With any director in particular?

ONJ: Well, working with Almodóvar. I would like to, but if anyone else offered me a good role and a good script, I would gladly do it.

What do you prefer, the world of film or the world of music?

ONJ: If I’m honest, what I would really love is to make another Grease-type film, to act and sing. That, for me, is ideal.

Speaking of "Grease," do you see John Travolta often?

ONJ: Not often, but we do from time to time. I saw him recently, after he had his son.

What do you do to stay in such great shape and look so beautiful?

ONJ: I walk a lot whenever I can and I base my diet on vegetables, pasta, and lots of salad.

Do you also practice any kind of sport?

ONJ:Not at the moment, but I try to walk or jog.

Where are you going from Madrid?

ONJ:Tomorrow I'm leaving for London, where my daughter is waiting for me, and then I'm going to Brazil for a world convention on the environment. I don't know if you know that I'm a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador for the Environment.

How did you come to hold this position?

ONJ:These issues have always concerned me, and after my daughter was born, I wanted, and still want, for her to be able to enjoy the environment as I did in my childhood.

What is the most important thing in life for Olivia Newton-John?

ONJ:My daughter, she means everything to me.

Have you achieved what you aspired to, both emotionally and professionally?

ONJ:Yes, I'm in the best moment of my life. I only ask that everything stays the same, as it is right now.
