Looking great with Olivia

The travel bug

I love travelling, but I never leave home without checking I’ve had all the right jabs. Here’s a list of jabs you might need, but you should check with your GP.

Holiday health

It’s important to do your homework before your vacation. Travel insurance is something I never leave home without, but up to 30 per cent of Australians choose to take their chances.

I also pack a small medical kit with my vitamin supplements and emergency first aid.

The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia says before boarding that plane, don’t forget to:
Take out health and travel insurance.
Have any immunisations you need for the country you are visiting (see right), and ensure you are up to date with others such as polio, tetanus, measles, diphtheria and rubella.
Find out the blood group of all family members travelling.
Get a letter from your doctor explaining why you are carrying certain medicines.
Wear a Medic Alert bracelet or necklace if you have a serious health condition.
Safe sex may save your life, so carry good-quality condoms.
