Happy new year
How are you spending your new year? For the first time in ages, I’ll be spending mine on stage in Las Vegas doing a solo show. Plenty of friends and family will be coming along and I’m sure we’ll have a ball. Just like it should be.
I know that when the holiday finishes I’ll have to get back into shape after all that yummy, junky food.
Once again, I look forward to sharing my tips for looking great and feeling good throughout the year.
Pet talk
I think pets are the most wonderful company. Better still, researchers believe they can even help you to live longer!
I devote an hour each morning to looking after our pets. I’m sure it’s one of the reasons I start the day in such a relaxed frame of mind.
I can’t imagine life without our three dogs, three cats and two birds. They’re really Chloe’s pets and their names will give you a pretty good idea as to what they look like. There’s Ebony, a two-year-old black Irish setter cross, Snowy, a 10-year-old Bichon, Rouge, a 10-month-old Pomeranian, and my three cats, Flea, Tigger and Caesar. Chloe’s birds, Tweety and Duchess, are cockatiels. Duchess is the baby and spends a lot of time sitting on my shoulder.
I’m not going to make too many resolutions this year because I usually like to take one day at a time. Staying healthy and happy are my priorities.
Come clean
My skin thrives on regular attention, especially cleansing twice a day. Cleansing removes the build-up of grime from environmental pollution and make-up and is believed to be the most important facet of skincare.
Not all cleansers will suit your skin type, so experiment with a few until you find the one that enhances your complexion.
I especially love washing with a mild soap and water, then a hot cloth, followed by a splash of cold or iced water.
Always use warm-not hot-water and cleanse in gentle circular movements. Rinse with clean warm water, then finish with a splash of cold water.
If you wear oil-based make-up, use an oil-dissolving cleanser before your cleansing bar.
Cream cleansers are better suited to dry, delicate and mature skins. Apply gently and remove with cotton wool or water.
Foaming cleansers are ideal for young or oily skins. Simply apply to damp skin, then wash off with warm water.
