Do you ever find you’re a little slow to get moving in the morning? Even though it’s my best time of the day, there are occasions when I feel a little sluggish and need a quick boost to kickstart my day. Here are a few simple strategies to get your brain into gear…
A hot shower followed by a cold one. While a steaming bath is a great relaxant before bedtime, the sensation of water against your skin, stimulating your nerves, can help wake up your brain in the morning.
Make a mental memo of what lies ahead. Before you get up, try to plot out your day in your head. Mentally organise your priorities so you’re not in a mad panic trying to get everything done.
Gaze out the window. A natural stimulant, light is a great way to energise your mind and body. If it’s a grey day, simply turn on a few lights to imitate the natural brightness of a sunny morning.
Eat a good breakfast. Your brain needs energy to think, so each morning stock up on low-fat foods that are rich in carbohydrates and proteins.
