Love Song single review

By David Hughes

Love Song (Pye 7N25557 - stereo) As opposed to “(Let My Life Be Your) Love Song” which really deserved to be a hit for Arrival, this is the Leslie Duncan song which appeared on Elton John’s “Tumbleweed Connection) album.

A nice relaxed intro with acoustic guitars, then Olivia adds the split vocals in breathy style. Happy to report that she is in much surer voice than on “If Not For You” but whether that proves help or handicap remains to be seen. At last it proves to me that she can sing whereas the first sing only proved what a good song it was!

For those unfamiliar, suffice to say this is a good slow ballad, ideal for Elton John and also almost as ideal for his feminist namesake.

Ed Note - the two typos ‘Leslie’ (for Lesley) and ‘sing’ (for single) are as per original item.
