Abba had not yet arrived in Australia when Olivia Newton-John decided to leave. I wish I could say Australia’s loss was our gain. But I can’t. Just released is ONJ- live (Embassy) in which this Doris Day of pop tries out a wardrobe of costumes and as many styles of music. The result is patronising and ill-fitting - proving that Olivia should have remained in middle of the road country singing, for which her very average voice is well suited.

Fans will doubtless rush out to rent this one and a half hour in concert event but as far as I’m concerned both this and her other Physical (EMI) video can be summed up by the Not the Nine O’ Clock News team: Nice video shame about the song.
