An interview via satellite with Countdown's Molly Meldrum, Olivia is in New York having just flown there from LA. The movie Xanadu hasn't yet opened but the singles from the soundtrack are going great guns!

Olivia discusses chart positions with Molly. At the time Xanadu is number 1 in England and Europe whilst Magic is number 1 in America. In Australia Magic is going up charts along with Don't Cry for me Argentina (having recently performed her 1977 recording for the Queen in Australia).

Olivia mentions that she doesn't think she's ever had a solo number 1 in England and that Xanadu made it there within 4 weeks. (Ed - in the UK Olivia previously had two number one duets with John Travolta from the Grease soundtrack but Xanadu isn't really a solo record because it's a collaboration with ELO.)

Molly asks why Olivia turned down the movie Can't Stop The Music. She replies that her instinct, after reading the script, was that it wasn't right for her. The producer Allan Carr wasn't too happy with her for a while but that they are friends again now.

Olivia looks great in purple and there's a great selection of clips from the movie Xanadu shown (with a male voice singing Magic in this initial edit). Countdown also promote the upcoming Xanadu dance contest.
